I started writing Love Songs in August of 2025, and some of the songs came from that first period of writing, and then almost a year later, in July 2026, I found myself writing new songs for it. I never wanted to force the album to represent one specific moment in my life. I wanted each song to be honest to exactly what I was feeling when I wrote it.

 

Sonically, this album also feels like a transition for me. I wanted everything to feel really organic and expansive, so there are lots of guitars, layered harmonies, background vocals, strings, and little atmospheric sounds throughout the record. I was really inspired by artists like Adrianne Lenker, Joan Baez, and Michael Jackson, and I played guitar, piano, viola, and violin throughout the album. I produced the whole thing myself between the studio and my bedroom.

 

More than anything, I wanted the album to sound beautiful. I kept thinking about whether I could take the physical feeling of love, the way it actually feels in your chest, and somehow translate that into sound. At the heart of the album, I wanted to explore the idea that love is never really wasted. Even when a relationship ends or someone is no longer in your life, all of that love and energy still has somewhere to go. For me, I put it back into creating something beautiful, into music, into art, and ultimately back into the earth. 

 

Love Songs became a way of taking everything I had felt and turning it into something that could live beyond the relationships that inspired it.
